Amazon's cloud computing division, AWS, faced an embarrassing mishap when a senior executive prematurely disclosed impending layoffs. Colleen Aubrey, SVP of applied AI solutions, inadvertently sent an email referencing 'Project Dawn' a day before scheduled notifications. The leaked communication revealed plans affecting approximately 30,000 corporate positions across AWS, retail, Prime Video, and HR units.

This follows October's reduction of 14,000 corporate roles as CEO Andy Jassy implements structural changes. The executive has previously cited AI-driven efficiency gains and management LAYER reductions as justification for the workforce optimization strategy.
